Every oil filled transformer has a separate reservoir of oil connected to the main tank. This reservoir known as conservator holds a certain amount of oil and can accommodate the additional volume of oil resulting from expansion of oil of main tank due to heating.
To know the level / quantity of oil at a particular observation, Magnetic oil gauges are provided on the conservator. This instrument has a housing of cast aluminium. It operates on a system containing a pair of permanent magnets. A set of bevel gear moves in radial direction due to rise / fall of oil level picked up by a float. The movement rotates and operates one or more switches for alarm or trip and further transmits the movement through a pointer on the dial.
The assembly is weatherproof and IP-67 tested. Each instrument is designed for specific mounting. These instruments are available in many sizes as per transformer size and customer requirement.
DIN MOG’s are specifically used on distribution transformers.
Larger sizes as SO-4, SO-6, SO-10 are used on high rating transformers. Number of switches, mounting position are requirements of customer and instruments are designed accordingly.
